Benn Dominates the Rematch With a Career Defining Performance
Conor Benn showcased the finest performance of his professional career as he avenged his previous loss to Chris Eubank Jr in their highly anticipated rematch.
The 29 year old London fighter dropped Eubank twice in the final round at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and earned a unanimous decision, sweeping all three judges’ scorecards.
Throughout the 12 round middleweight contest, Benn applied relentless pressure, dictating the pace and maintaining a relentless output. Eubank appeared unable to match Benn’s intensity and struggled to respond effectively, ultimately falling to the fourth defeat of his pro career.
Retirement Rumors Surround Eubank After Another Defeat
Following the loss, discussions emerged suggesting that the 36 year old Eubank might consider retiring instead of chasing a trilogy fight with Benn or seeking a lucrative challenge against boxing superstar Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
Tony Bellew Believes It Too Early for Eubank to Retire
Speaking on DAZN, former cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew offered a different viewpoint, insisting that Eubank still has more left in the tank.
Bellew Says Eubank Was Outboxed, Not Finished
“I gave him one, maybe two rounds at best,” Bellew said, noting that Eubank was out jabbed, outworked, and physically bullied throughout the fight.
According to Bellew, Benn’s tenacity, speed, and disciplined game plan proved decisive.
Bellew stressed that Eubank Jr has always been more of a fighter than a pure technical boxer, and this matchup exposed that difference. He praised Benn for maintaining composure, sticking to strategy, and using his speed and attributes effectively.
The former champion added:
“Eubank Jr couldn’t deal with it. I haven’t seen him outboxed this clearly since facing George Groves and Billy Joe Saunders.”
Benn Targets Welterweight World Title Next
Following his impressive win, Benn confirmed that he intends to move back down to 147 lbs for his next bout. His focus now shifts toward securing an opportunity to fight for a version of the world welterweight championship as he continues his quest for global success.
