Detroit Pushback on the “Tush Push” Falls Short
During the spring league meetings, the Detroit Lions were among the teams that opposed banning the Eagles’ famed “tush push” quarterback-sneak formation. Ironically, months later, Detroit managed to shut down the very play on several key attempts during Sunday night’s showdown.
But despite their success against it, Philadelphia’s defense proved to be the defining factor in Week 11.
Philadelphia Defense Controls the Game
The Eagles improved to 8-2 with a performance built on dominance and discipline. Detroit managed to score on only two of its 12 offensive drives a steep drop for a team that had put up 44 points just a week earlier.
Philadelphia forced the Lions into five turnover on downs, consistently breaking up plays before they could develop.
Defensive Line Shines with Batted Passes and Pressure
The Eagles’ defensive front barely allowed Detroit’s passes to clear the line of scrimmage.
Jordan Davis recorded three batted passes, tying the season-high for any player.
Jalen Carter added two more deflections and contributed to a pair of momentum-shifting sacks.
Their constant disruption kept quarterback Jared Goff on edge for the entire game.
Jared Goff Struggles Under Heavy Pressure
Goff entered the matchup leading the NFL with a 74% completion rate one of the highest marks in league history. But against Philadelphia, he completed just 14 of 37 passes for 255 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception.
Goff has now dropped to 1-5 all-time against the Eagles, and this contest marked his second game since head coach Dan Campbell took over play-calling duties.
Eagles’ Offense Does Just Enough
Philadelphia’s offense wasn’t explosive but remained effective when it mattered. The team collected 272 total yards at just 3.9 yards per play and converted only one of its three red zone trips surprising for an offense that leads the NFL in red zone scoring percentage.
Key Offensive Highlights
A late first-half field goal gave the Eagles a 6-0 advantage.
A touchdown drive extended the lead to 13-6.
Jalen Hurts finished 14 of 28 for 135 yards, adding a 1 yard rushing touchdown.
Philadelphia is now 6-0 this season when Hurts throws under 200 yards.
Saquon Barkley provided stability with 83 rushing yards on 26 carries.
Eagles Extend Their November Winning Streak
This victory marked Philadelphia’s 11th consecutive win in November, a streak that dates back to 2022. Their latest triumph showcased a balanced, resilient team that can rely on its defense when the offense isn’t firing on all cylinders.
