Oman entered the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on a high note after defeating Zimbabwe by four wickets in a warm up clash at the Colombo Cricket Club (CCC). The win adds momentum and confidence as they prepare for their official tournament opener against the same opponents.

Oman Chase Backed by Strong Batting Performance

Chasing a competitive target of 188, Oman innings was anchored by opener Jatinder Singh, who played an aggressive and commanding knock of 55 runs from just 33 deliveries. Later, Jiten Ramanandi ensured victory with a quick unbeaten 34 off 18 balls, guiding Oman to the target with four balls to spare.

Captain Aamir Kaleem gave Oman a flying start, scoring 23 off 11 balls, including two fours and two sixes. Jatinder Singh then formed a crucial 79 run partnership for the second wicket with Hammad Mirza, who contributed 35 off 25 deliveries. This partnership laid a solid platform for a successful chase.

Zimbabwe Strong Yet Inconsistent Batting

Earlier, Zimbabwe batted first after Oman opted to field. The visitors began aggressively, with Brian Bennett hitting 56 off 28 balls and putting together a commanding 86 run opening partnership with Brendan Taylor. However, Zimbabwe quickly lost momentum, slipping to 94 for 5 by the 11th over, with Taylor retiring out on 26.

Tashinga Musekiwa steadied Zimbabwe innings with an unbeaten 54 off 28 balls. He shared valuable partnerships of 43 runs with Dion Myers and 33 runs with Brad Evans, helping Zimbabwe reach a competitive total of 187. Despite this effort, Oman chased the target successfully late in their innings.
