The Pakistan Super League (PSL) achieved a historic moment after two new franchises were sold for exceptionally high prices. The seventh team was bought by FKS Group for PKR 175 crore, while the eighth franchise was secured by OZ Developers for PKR 185 crore the highest in PSL history.

These figures reflect a major increase in the league commercial strength and confirm PSL growing status as a valuable sports brand.

Islamabad Hosts High Profile Franchise Auction

The official bidding ceremony took place in Islamabad, where the seventh and eighth PSL teams were offered to investors. Several leading business groups from across Pakistan participated, creating a highly competitive environment.

The event attracted strong interest from the corporate sector, showing increasing confidence in the PSL business model and its long-term profitability.

Nine Business Groups Took Part

Initially, ten groups showed interest in joining the league. However, one group withdrew at the last moment, leaving nine active participants in the auction process.

The bidding was held at the Jinnah Convention Center, where investors engaged enthusiastically, pushing franchise prices to record levels.

Seventh Franchise Sold for PKR 175 Crore

The bidding for the seventh team began at PKR 110 crore. A close competition emerged between I2C Group and FKS Group.

I2C raised the bid to PKR 174 crore, but FKS Group made the final offer of PKR 175 crore and won the franchise. The group later announced that the team would be named Hyderabad.

OZ Developers Secure Eighth Team for PKR 185 Crore

OZ Developers placed the highest bid for the eighth franchise at PKR 185 crore, making it the most expensive team in PSL history.

This record breaking purchase further highlighted the league rising financial appeal and investor confidence.
