BCCI Directs KKR to Release Mustafizur Rahman

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have confirmed that they have released Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL squad. The decision was taken in accordance with directives issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and after proper consultation and procedural steps.

Deva Jit Saikia, Secretary of the BCCI, stated that the franchise was instructed to remove Mustafizur Rahman from the squad following recent developments across various channels.

“After reviewing the latest developments, the BCCI has issued guidelines to KKR, asking them to release Mustafizur Rahman from their team,” said Saikia.

Controversy Surrounding His IPL Inclusion

The inclusion of Mustafizur Rahman in KKR squad had sparked widespread criticism. KKR co owner Shah Rukh Khan faced intense backlash after the signing, with extremist voices labeling the actor as a traitor.

The decision to include Mustafizur in the IPL had already drawn public attention. In the December IPL auction, KKR had acquired him for ₹9.2 crore, making him one of the most talked about signings. Shah Rukh Khan was particularly criticized for this move, with some claiming it contradicted national interests.
