The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended a West Indies cricketer along with two team officials after serious corruption allegations connected to the Bim T10 League in Barbados.
According to the ICC, the individuals were found to have violated the governing body anti corruption regulations. As a result, all three have been temporarily banned from participating in any form of cricket while the investigation continues.
ICC Takes Action Over Bim T10 League Corruption Case
The ICC confirmed that West Indies player Jevon Searles, along with team officials Chitranjan Rauthur and Trevin Griffith, has been suspended under the ICC Anti Corruption Code.
The charges stem from alleged irregularities during the Bim T10 League, a domestic T10 cricket tournament held in Barbados.
The ICC stated that the suspensions were issued following allegations that the individuals breached anti corruption regulations governing professional cricket competitions.
Allegations Include Fixing and Lack of Cooperation
Match Fixing and Corruption Charges
Investigators have accused the three individuals of multiple violations, including:
- Alleged involvement in match fixing activities
- Conspiracy to engage in corrupt conduct
- Encouraging or facilitating corruption in cricket matches
Such actions fall under serious breaches of the ICC Anti Corruption Code, which is designed to protect the integrity of the sport worldwide.
Failure to Cooperate With Investigation
In addition to the corruption allegations, team official Trevin Griffith has also been charged with failing to cooperate with ICC investigators during the inquiry process.
The ICC emphasized that cooperation with investigations is a mandatory requirement under its anti corruption regulations.
Temporary Ban From All Cricket Activities
The ICC confirmed that all three individuals have been suspended from every form of cricket activity while the disciplinary process continues.
This suspension means they are prohibited from:
- Playing professional cricket
- Participating in cricket administration or team management
- Being involved in any ICC sanctioned tournaments
The governing body stated that further disciplinary actions could follow depending on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
