ICC Takes Action Against Salman Ali Agha

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken disciplinary action against Pakistan batter Salman Ali Agha following his reaction to a controversial run out during the second ODI against Bangladesh national cricket team.

According to the ICC, the Pakistani player has been handed one demerit point and an official warning for breaching the governing body Code of Conduct during the match.

The incident occurred during the second One Day International between Pakistan and Bangladesh, where emotions ran high after a dramatic dismissal.

Violation of ICC Code of Conduct

The ICC confirmed that Salman Ali Agha violated Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with inappropriate behavior involving cricket equipment, clothing, or ground equipment during an international match.

After reviewing the incident, the ICC concluded that the Pakistan batter reaction on his way back to the pavilion constituted a Level 1 offense.

As a result, one demerit point has been added to Salman Ali Agha disciplinary record.
The ICC also stated that the player accepted the sanction and admitted the offense, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

Controversial Run Out Sparks Debate

The controversy began during the match at the Sher e Bangla National Cricket Stadium when Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz ran out Salman Ali Agha at the non striker end.

This type of dismissal often referred to in cricket discussions as the non striker run out has historically sparked debates about sportsmanship and game ethics.

As Salman Ali Agha walked back to the pavilion after the dismissal, he was visibly frustrated and expressed anger on the field, which later led to the ICC disciplinary action.

Growing Debate Around Non Striker Run Outs

Run outs at the non striker end have frequently divided opinions in the cricketing world. While the method is legal under the Laws of Cricket, critics sometimes argue it goes against the “spirit of the game.”

Supporters, however, believe bowlers have the right to dismiss a batter who leaves the crease early.

The incident in Dhaka once again reignited this debate among fans and cricket analysts.

What Happens Next?

With the sanction now officially recorded, Salman Ali Agha will continue playing under the ICC disciplinary framework. If a player accumulates multiple demerit points within a certain period, it could lead to stricter penalties such as match suspensions.

For now, the matter has been resolved after the Pakistani batter accepted the ICC decision.
