Cricket West Indies (CWI) have officially revealed their 15 member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. The two time champions will aim to reclaim global glory in the expanded 20 team tournament.
Shai Hope Returns as Captain
Experienced wicketkeeper batter Shai Hope has been named captain of the West Indies squad for the T20 World Cup 2026. Hope returns to the T20I setup after missing the recent three match series against Afghanistan in Dubai, which the Caribbean side lost 2–1.
His leadership and calm presence at the top of the order are expected to play a crucial role in guiding the team through the challenging conditions in the subcontinent.
Experienced Core Strengthens the Squad
Alongside Hope, several senior players have earned recalls, significantly boosting the squad experience and depth.
Key Returnees for West Indies
- Roston Chase
- Jason Holder
- Sherfane Rutherford
- Romario Shepherd
These players add all round strength, power hitting ability, and bowling variety, giving West Indies a well rounded lineup for the mega event.
Daren Sammy Confident in Team Balance
Head coach Daren Sammy expressed strong confidence in the selected squad, emphasizing balance, experience, and match-winning potential.
“We have selected a squad with balance, extensive experience, and a touch of mystery. We have X factor players, hungry newcomers, and seasoned professionals ready to make the region proud,” Sammy stated.
He further highlighted that the team management carefully evaluated conditions in India and Sri Lanka before finalizing the squad, believing it offers the best chance to compete for the title.
Final Preparations Against South Africa
Before the tournament begins, West Indies will fine tune their preparations with a three match away T20I series against South Africa, running until January 31. The series will help the team test combinations and adapt to high pressure conditions ahead of the World Cup.
West Indies Group C Fixtures
Placed in Group C, West Indies will begin their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign on February 7 against Scotland at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Group Stage Match Schedule
