Cricket Scotland has unveiled its official Scotland squad for T20 World Cup 2026, confirming a 15 player lineup for the global tournament scheduled to run from February 7 to March 8, 2026. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, featuring 20 international teams.

Richie Berrington to Lead Scotland

Experienced top order batter Richie Berrington has been named captain of the Scottish side. His leadership experience and consistency at the international level make him a central figure as Scotland prepares to face strong opposition on the world stage.

The squad includes 11 players who also featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup, held in the USA and West Indies, providing valuable tournament experience and continuity.

New Faces Earn World Cup Selection

Three players Tom Bruce, Finlay McCreath, and Oliver Davidson are set to make their T20 World Cup debuts in 2026. Their inclusion highlights Scotland focus on developing fresh talent alongside seasoned performers.

Fast bowler Zainullah Ihsan, originally from Afghanistan, has earned his maiden call up shortly after becoming eligible to represent Scotland, adding extra pace depth to the squad.

Reserves Named Amid Last Minute Inclusion

In addition to the main squad, Cricket Scotland also confirmed two travelling reserves and three non travelling reserves. The board clarified that final participation remains subject to visa approvals, as Scotland received a late tournament entry.

Scotland replaced Bangladesh in Group C of the competition after the ICC rejected Bangladesh request to move its matches from India to Sri Lanka, citing the lack of any credible or verifiable security concerns.

According to the ICC, the tournament schedule will remain unchanged, leading to Scotland official inclusion in the group.

Scotland Group Stage Fixtures

Scotland will begin their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign against West Indies on February 7 in Kolkata. The team will then face:

Italy on February 9 (Kolkata)
England on February 14 (Kolkata)

Following the Kolkata fixtures, Scotland will travel to Mumbai, where they will play their final group stage match against Nepal on February 17.
