Daryl Mitchell produced a sensational batting display to create a unique world record during the third and final One Day International between India and New Zealand at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. The right handed batter became the first player in ODI history to register five successive scores of 50 or more against India on their home grounds.

This landmark performance further strengthened Mitchell reputation as one of the most reliable overseas batters in Indian conditions.

Currently ranked as the world No. 2 ODI batter, Mitchell walked in at No. 4 with New Zealand under early pressure. Showing remarkable calm and technical precision, he rebuilt the innings through smart strike rotation and well timed boundaries.

Mitchell brought up his half century in the 21st over, reaching the milestone in just 56 balls with a confident boundary off spinner Kuldeep Yadav. His innings reflected maturity, balance, and complete control against a quality Indian bowling attack.

First Batter to Score Five Straight 50+ ODI Innings vs India at Home

This innings marked the peak of an extraordinary run against India in ODIs played on Indian soil. Mitchell recent scores against the hosts now read: 130, 134, 84, 131 and 137*.

With this achievement, he went past legendary names such as Chris Gayle, Damien Martyn, Andrew Symonds, and AB de Villiers, all of whom had previously managed four consecutive 50 plus scores in similar conditions.

Mitchell Converts Fifty Into a Magnificent Century

The experienced 34 year old wasted no time in turning his half century into a commanding hundred. Mitchell eventually finished with a superb 137 runs off 131 balls, striking 15 fours and three sixes in a well paced knock.

His innings was complemented brilliantly by Glenn Phillips, who played an aggressive counter attacking role.

Glenn Phillips smashed a stunning 106 off just 88 deliveries, laced with nine boundaries and three sixes. His fearless batting provided momentum in the middle and death overs, helping New Zealand post an imposing total.

At the end of 50 overs, New Zealand were firmly placed at 337/8, setting India a challenging target on a batting friendly Indore surface.
